Our Mission

The University acknowledges that students have rights and responsibilities as members of the Appalachian State University community, and that the University has expectations regarding the behavior of its members which extend beyond the classroom into all aspects of life. The purpose of this site is to educate and to make available the necessary information regarding expected conduct of the students of Appalachian State University.

The mission of the Office of Student Conduct is to educate students about community standards and prohibited conduct, promote student learning and accountability, and facilitate the development of thoughtful, responsible, and engaged members of the community. Through the Code of Student Conduct , the Office of Student Conduct strives to reduce and prevent behavior that undermines academic success and that negatively detracts from the educational mission of the University; to ensure the health and safety of students and the community; to provide timely support and resources for students; and to prevent violence in and around the University community.
